Part 2 - Journey to Healing and Return to Cambodia

Helena Ny was born in Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge genocide; the killing field that took place from 1975-1979. By the time she was 3 years old, she had completely lost all her family members along with 2 million of the population in the country through execution, starvation, and disease. As a child growing up in Cambodia, the word "Play" was not in her vocabulary, nor did she know whether she was LOVED or whom she Belonged to. As a child her only mission in life was to stay alive. Her spirit was so strong! With faith in her heart, and destiny by her side, she made her way to America in 1987 where she was reunited with her father who had escaped the communist when she was just a year old.

As an adult she is now living life from her grateful heart and inquisitive mind. Her passion in life is learning, healing, spiritual growth and helping others to over come their hardships through her existence, self reliance and her being here on Earth.

In 2009 she made her first return to Cambodia to heal her heart and her past trauma. When she returned back to America she was grateful to be home but her heart and soul would not let her rest. When she fell asleep at night she felt the sadness in her heart for the children she had met along the way that are very impoverished and many are without parents. She feels deeply connected to them and she sees herself in them.

In 2011, she made her second return to Cambodia. This trip, she intended to bring a little more joy, so she built the children their first playground in the town where she was found as a child. She made peace with some aspects of her inner child by seeing the children play. She then remember one of her purposes in life is to bring light into darkness through play and learning. Her focus is to heal not only the heart of her own country but the heart of all humanity by bringing "play to children, one playground at a time." Her intention is to build them with the spirit of love to unite humanity and invoke higher consciousness of our purpose here on Earth.

Her spiritual connection is with the children, she believes that they are the new light, the light that comes to love and heal the world, and heal the wounded souls who are destroying this world through fear, hate and greed by creating wars to tear humanity apart. Albert Einstein said “You can never solve a problem on the level on which it was created”. When enough people on Earth awaken to love, humanity once again will rise to remembering who we are and what our purpose is on Earth. Truly it is to love and to be loved.

Some History

Many people are not aware of the genocide that took place in Cambodia under Pol Pot. From 1975-1979 Khmer Rouge government arrested, tortured and executed anyone suspected of belonging to several categories of supposed enemies. "Enemies" were
teachers, doctors, lawyers, government workers,
educated professionals, if you speak another language or wearing glasses. Abolished all currency and religion. An estimated over 2 millions people were killed.

Since 1990 Cambodia has gradually recovered, demographically and economically. Their are still many psychological scars for Cambodian families and émigré communities.

Members of the younger generation may know of the Khmer Rouge only through word of mouth from parents and elders. The government does not require that educators teach children about Khmer Rouge atrocities in the schools. The education system in Cambodia needs a lot of help.

If you are reading this and you want to help in any way shape or form, or I can joint you on your journey to help Cambodia i would like to connect.

My Mission - The Children of Cambodia

The children in Cambodia are beautiful. But they need help. They carry many emotional scars from the older generations during Pol Pot. The population of Cambodia is over 15 million people in a very small country. Over 50% are under 21 years old due to a high fertility rate, lack of education, poverty, a huge HIV/AIDS, and prostitution are growing. There are lots of human trafficking as well.
